On Idris Jala departure from MAS

His departure is viewed more negative than positive. Credit Suisse said Jala's departure came at an inopportune time as the operating environment was still tough. "This reinforces our negative view on the stock," the research house said, adding that it maintained a "underperform" rating on MAS. OSK Research analyst Ng Sem Guan expects a "smooth transition" with no or minimal interruption as Azmil had been with the national carrier since 2005. He said Azmil had much longer experience than Jala in the aviation industry and was one of the masterminds behind the transformation plan introduced by the latter. "We think his (Azmil) knowledge and experience will certainly help ensure a smooth transition," Ng said. "With the aviation industry is still mired in uncertainty in the aftermath of the global recession and volatile crude oil prices, we suspect Jala's departure may be viewed negatively by the market despite the fact that his experien

AS1M: 2 billions units sold so far

This is slower than I expected. Is this has something to do with the expected return rate which is expected to be 3.7 - 4 %, a way lower than ASM and ASW2020? KUALA LUMPUR: Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) has extended the Amanah Saham 1Malaysia subscription allocation deadline to Sept 30. However, the maximum investment limit for subscription of the new units will be abolished after the 30-day offer ends on Sept 4. Hamad said as of Aug 25, more than two billion units had been subscribed by 148,830 investors. Via The Star

Celine Dion - A World To Believe In

Very inspiring lyrics. Firing this song now. Celine Dion - A World To Believe In I've seen the tears and the heartache And I 've felt the pain I've seen the hatred And so many lives lost in vain And yet through this darkness There's always a light that shines through And takes me back home, takes me back home All of the promises broken And all of the songs left unsung Seem so far away As I make my way back to you You gave me faith And you gave me a world to believe in You gave me a love to believe in And feeling this love I can rise up above And be strong, and be whole once again I know that dreams we hold on to Can just fade away And I know that words can be wasted with so much to say And when I feel helpless There's always a hope that shines through And makes me believe And makes me believe And I see for one fleeting moment A paradise under the sun I drift away And I make my way back to you You gave me faith And you gave me a world to believe in You gave me a love

Michael Jackson cause of death: powerful anesthetic propofol and another sedative, Lorazepam

Finally .... the cause and manner of Michael Jackson's death is reviewed. The next question is will his Dr. be charged for manslaughter? Coroner: Jackson death homicide, sleep aids caused LOS ANGELES (AP): Michael Jackson's death was a homicide caused primarily by the powerful anesthetic propofol and another sedative, the coroner announced Friday in a highly anticipated ruling increasing the likelihood of criminal charges against the pop star's doctor. The Los Angeles County coroner's office determined the cause of death was "acute propofol intoxication." Lorazepam, another sedative sold under the brand name Ativan, contributed to the death. Additional drugs detected in Jackson's system were the sedatives midazolam and diazepam, the painkiller lidocaine and the stimulant ephedrine. The coroner did not release Jackson's full autopsy report, citing a security hold requested by Los Angeles authorities investigating the case, and declined to comment beyon

MAS CEO Idris Jala appointed Minister

Idris Jala, the man who's instrumental of lifting MAS from its doom back in 2005. From a loss P&L to a profit record in 2007. How is MAS going to be without him? Najib: Idris will be sworn in as senator PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) chief executive officer and managing director Datuk Seri Jala has been appointed as a Minister in the Prime Minister's department Thursday. He would be the chief executive officer of Performance Management and Delivery Unit (PEMANDU), the organisation that oversees the implementation of the Key Performance Index (KPI) initiatives. "Idris will complement, support and report to Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, minister in Prime Minister's department in charge of National Unity and Performance Management," said the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in a statement Thursday. Najib informed the Cabinet of the appointment at the Cabinet KPI Workshop held in Putrajaya Thursday and the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal

Chua Soi Lek sacked from MCA

If Chua Soi Lek is deemed to be sacked now, he should have been disqualified from the MCA Oct 2008 election in the first place. Is there something happening behind the stage within MCA? I think Chua Soi Lek will go to opposition, just a matter of time only. If I were him, I would. Well ... in politics, usually when #2 is not ngam with #1, that #2 is hard to survive. Furthermore, the #1 sure wanna his man for the #2 position. KUALA LUMPUR: The MCA has sacked its deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek with immediate effect. This followed the party's presidential council decision last night to accept its disciplinary board's recommendation that Dr Chua be sacked from the party. MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat said the council, which held the meeting for more than five hours, had made the decision with a heavy heart. The party had given due consideration to the damage inflicted upon it by Dr Chua's DVD sex scandal. Via The Star

Insurance companies cover for H1N1

A fair move. And I strongly applauded the decision. PETALING JAYA: Insurance companies have decided to allow payouts on claims for treatment, hospitalisation and death as a result of Influenza A(H1N1). The Life Insurance Association of Malaysia (LIAM) said yesterday that its 16 member companies would honour such claims. Its president, Md Adnan Md Zain said policyholders could contact their respective insurance companies for further details. "Even though a majority of medical policies carry exclusions on communicable diseases requiring quarantine by law, life insurers are responding to an immediate need of the nation in light of the increasing number of people who have been infected," said Md Adnan. "In the event of any review of this decision on life insurance coverage, the policyholders will be duly informed," he added. On Thursday, Depu-ty Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin told insurance companies to explain clearly whether those infect-ed with Influenza A

Why my idol Lin Dan is Super Dan!

China coach, Tang Hsienhu comments on Lin Dan after the latter won the Badminton World Championship for the third consecutive time which I strongly agree with. "He is a player with strong emotions and he knows how to handle them. He is strong-willed too and it is never easy to take a game off him," said Hsienhu. He made a comparison between Lin Dan and 2000 Sydney Olympics champion Olympic Ji Xinpeng. "Xinpeng won the Olympic gold medal but that was the end of him. "It is not easy to keep on winning and having that motivation to excel all the time. But Lin Dan can do this because he is strong in his heart." Via The Star

Badminton World Championship: Chong Wei lost in QF!

I'm disappointed that Malaysia best hope, Lee Chong Wei defeated by Sony Dwi Koncoro again in the quarter finals of Badminton World Championship. You notice the word again ? But then as I always say, the one who plays better deserve to win and I congrats Sony for his hard work. He will meet Lin Dan who fought over Peter-Gade Christensen while the other semi finals will see Chen Jin taking Taufik Hidayat. The only good news is we are having 2 doubles in the semi finals - Koo Kien Keat / Tan Boon Heong and Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari / Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif. In fact, I see the real challenge for them only comes in the semi final itself. They will face South Koreans Lee Yong-dae /Jung Jae-sung and Chna's Cai Yun /Fu Haifeng respectively. A must not to be missed matches. So get ready with your snack in front of TV for the 4 pm semi finals showdown today!

Teoh Beng Hock Inquest: I disagree on the suicide theory

I agree with Gobind. A very disappointed theory by the pathologist. How could him concluded it was a suicide case without evidence? From the Q&A below, the pathologist didn't seem to do his investigation well as he missed to test and verify important evidence like the thumbprint on the shoe. Is this how our Malaysia government carries out investigation? I'm truly disappointed. Like this, we need FBI to help if that's really our best!?! Gobind tears into suicide theory SHAH ALAM: A lawyer challenged a suggestion by a senior forensic pathologist that Teoh Beng Hock may have committed suicide. Gobind Singh Deo, who is holding a watching brief for the political aide's family, suggested that Dr Khairul Azman Ibrahim was not able to factually support his contention on the possible cause of Teoh's death. Gobind, who stood after government-appointed counsel Tan Hock Chuan had completed questioning Dr Khairul Azman, asked the forensic pathologist if he had measured Teoh&

Seafood at Kuchai Lama

Seafood is my favourite! OK, let's go to try this ... yum yum. Fresh from the rivers Tangy dish: Another popular dish at the restaurant is the Sauteed Lady Finger and Shrimps with Assam Sauce. "The pork knuckle is first braised so that the meat absorbs the flavours. After the meat is cooled, it is then deep-fried," said Tan. Wong said another must-try at the restaurant was the mantis prawns, which is fried with either salted egg yolk or "chiu yim" style (with salt and pepper). Those who prefer greens could try the Sauteed Vegetables with Hawaii Nut, which has a nice sweet crunch to it, owing to the fried macadamia nuts in the dish. Besides the a la carte menu, the restaurant also serves dim sum during lunch hour. For August and September, UOB credit card holders dining at the outlet with a minimum of four people would get a complimentary pork knuckle dish with orders from the a la carte menu. Teoh Beng Hock Inquest

Teoh Inquest (Day 8) Pathologist says Teoh may have committed suicide 11.40am: Gobind argued that Khairul's suicide theory was nought as there were no hand prints or foot prints on the window frame. Teoh Inquest (Day 7) Possibility that Teoh was dragged 10.40am: Insp Mazli says that based on scratch marks on the sole of Teoh's shoes, there is a possibility that he (Teoh) was dragged.

Going to hold my 2010 travel plan due to H1N1

With the high spread of H1N1, I think I'm going to hold all my travel until mid 2010. Pandemic flu spreading with Asian monsoon season - WHO By Stephanie Nebehay GENEVA (Reuters) - H1N1 pandemic flu is spreading in India, Thailand and Vietnam with the onset of Asia's monsoon season, the World Health Organisation (WHO) said on Tuesday. But transmission of the new virus appears to have peaked in parts of the southern hemisphere including Argentina, Chile, Australia and New Zealand, the United Nations agency said. Some 177,457 cases of the virus commonly known as swine flu, including 1,462 deaths, have been officially reported worldwide as of Aug. 6, but the true number of infections is certainly much higher, it said. H1N1: 38 deaths and 2253 cases in Malaysia

With 4 - 8 deaths confirmed per day now. Oh my gosh!   I'm still with my view that government did not do enough to test the potential H1N1 cases. It's a bit too late now ... but better than never. PUTRAJAYA: As the death toll from Influenza A (H1N1) rose to 38, the Government green-lighted the use of rapid test kits for private clinics and hospitals to conduct flu checks on the public. Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said private healthcare providers can use these kits to help cope with the large number of patients wanting to be checked, and for faster detection and containment of the pandemic. "Use of rapid test kits was discouraged in the private sector earlier when the H1N1 outbreak was still small and mostly imported. "Now that it has reached the community level, it's important to detect it fast and treat it quickly," he said after checking Serdang Hospital's service centre for patients with flu-like symptoms. He said the Governm

I'm not impressive this time. See the list of destinations and the savings below. What's so great about? I rather wait for the international flight sale starting this midnight.
