Highway from Puchong to NKVE

New highway links Puchong to Tropicana A new proposed highway linking Kinrara in Puchong to the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) will be cutting across Petaling Jaya near Tropicana. The new link, which is off the Kesas Highway cuts through Section 4, Section 8, Jalan Timur, Jalan Semangat, Rothmans roundabout, Damansara Intan and Damansara Kim. The toll highway, expected to start construction soon, also goes along the Sprint Highway all the way to the NKVE near Tropicana area. Traffic planning consultant Goh Bok Yen said the new link would help alleviate the traffic problems in Petaling Jaya. "Petaling Jaya badly needs roads that provide good access. It basically requires dispersal link to access the highways for ingress and digress," he said. Goh cited as an example the NKVE which, he said, cut on the west side to Kota Damansara, Ara Damansara and Tropicana. A few links that are mainly used are Persiaran Surian, the FAS tunnel and Tropicana. For the entire

Phil Collins - Separate Lives

This song caught me on the spot while I was driving home alone few days ago on a late and quiet night. You called me from the room in your hotel All full of romance for someone that you met And telling me how sorry you were, leaving so soon And that you miss me sometimes when you’re alone in your room Do I feel lonely too? You have no right to ask me how I feel You have no right to speak to me so kind We can’t go on just holding on to time Now that we’re living separate lives Well I held on to let you go And if you lost your love for me, well you never let it show There was no way to compromise So now we’re living (living) Separate lives Ooh, it’s so typical, love leads to isolation So you build that wall (build that wall) Yes, you build that wall (build that wall) And you make it stronger Well you have no right to ask me how I feel You have no right to speak to me so kind Some day I might (I might) find myself looking in your eyes But for now, we’ll go on li

Flexibility at work to support work life balance

I hope to achieve such flexibility one day. Defining personal flexibility as a leader Nancy Rector, Enterprise Risk partner and mother of two, strives for balance without a BlackBerry Opting not to carry a BlackBerry could be a career-limiting move in some organizations, but it hasn't curtailed Nancy Rector's options. She's spent the past eight years leading Enterprise Risk services in Deloitte's Ottawa office, and recently added national leadership responsibilities to her role. And being "BlackBerry-free" isn't the only line she's drawn to achieve balance. To understand Rector's approach to work-life balance, here's a peek into her life. She has two hockey-obsessed sons who collectively notch about 250 practices and games between September and April. Some weekends, she and her husband are at different arenas in different cities, each cheering on one of their boys. But don't expect to find Rector tapping away at a BlackBerry or glued

Puchong Utama bus hub

It's better than waiting bus in an old hut but is this considered a bus hub ? Or merely a bigger bus stops? I expected a bigger waiting compound and more bus lanes. Sort of like a mini version of the Putrajaya Sentral bus hub as this place is an interchange for few buses. Would it cope with the volume of passengers after a year or two once Carrefour, which is situated opposite to it to open? I doubt that.

Josh Groban - Hidden Away

Josh Groban's music has always been my love ever since I discovered him back in 2005. After 3 years, he returns with this single, Hidden Away which is breathtaking. The MP3 version of Hidden Away was released for free download at joshgroban.com  some time in September. The full album, Illuminations is slated to be out on 15 Nov 2010 and the pre-order has already started. When I first listened to Hidden Away, it was a little bit monotonous to me. Compared to You Raise Me Up, February Song, You Are Loved (Don't Give Up) and Awake ; Hidden Away started with quite a low key. But I slowly discovered the beauty of this piece and falling for it over the time especially the part in Italics. Good stuffs are meant to share. I wish you will enjoy his music as much as I do. Josh Groban - Hidden Away Illuminations (2010) Over mountains and sky blue seas On great circles will you watch for me The sweetest feeling I've got inside I just can't wait to get lost in your eye

"Chinese" Courier Service

Enjoy the new innovative delivery method, the Chinese way... forget about DHL, UPS or even FedEx!!! A family in the Southern Province of China, were puzzled when the coffin of their dead grandmother arrived from United States. It was sent by one of the daughters. The dead body was so tightly squeezed inside the coffin, with no space left in it! When they opened the lid, they found a letter on top which read as follows: Dear Cousins, I am sending Ah-ma body to you since it was her wish that she should be cremated in the compound of our ancestral home in Tung Shin. Sorry, I could not come along as all of my paid leaves are consumed. You will find inside the coffin, under Ah-ma's body, 12 cans of Yohmeitsu, 10 packets of Swiss chocolates and packets of Chinatown Lap Cheong. Please divide these among all of you. On Ah-ma's feet you will find a new pair of Nike Air shoes (size 10) for Ah boy. Also, there are 2 pairs of shoes for Ah Mei's and Ah Lien's sons

Japan Super Series 2010 Final result

Watched it live via Astro at Puteri Mart food court at Bandar Puteri, Puchong, next to the Michael's Badminton Academy. A big muakssss to Lee Chong Wei for finally beaten Lin Dan 22-20 16-21 21-17 after some time. But nevertheless Lin Dan is still my idol. And he looks lengchai today despite losing hahaha. It would be double joy if Koo Kien Keat / Tan Boon Heong won over Cai Yun / Fu Hai Feng too. After winning the 1st game, judging from their performance, I looked forward to another excellent display in the 2nd game but alas dunno why they were beaten in the 2nd and 3rd game. Didn't manage to catch that 'cause raining and thus Astro was out of service! Then checked at TournamentSoftware , the result was 21-18 14-21 12-21. What a pity.

Japan Super Series 2010 Final

Yeah! These players are going to meet their nemesis in the final starting at 12 pm tomorrow. Lee Chong Wei vs Lin Dan - I don't hope to watch a repeat of Olympics 2008. Hope my countryman will win over my idol this time. Koo Kien Keat / Tan Boon Heong  vs Cai Yun / Fu Hai Feng - I would say both have equal chances

Lady Antebellum - Need You Now

At first, I thought it was a duet by Faith Hill and another guy singer. But it turns out to a be this trio, Lady Antebellum, who's doing Country music. Nice tune and lyrics. Lady Antebellum - Need You Now [Verse 1 - Hillary Scott] Picture-perfect memories scattered all around the floor Reaching for the phone 'cause I can't fight it anymore [Pre-Chorus] And I wonder if I ever cross your mind? For me it happens all the time [Chorus 1] It's a quarter after one, I'm all alone and I need you now Said I wouldn't call, but I lost all control and I need you now And I don't know how I can do without I just need you now [Verse 2 - Charles Kelley] Another shot of whiskey, can't stop looking at the door Wishing you'd come sweeping in the way you did before [Pre-Chorus] And I wonder if I ever cross your mind? For me it happens all the time [Chorus 2] It's a quarter after one, I'm a little drunk and I need you now Said I wouldn&

Badminton World Championship 2010

Lee Chong Wei (1st seed) is expected to meet my idol, Lin Dan (3rd seed) in the semi finals on this Sat. A must watch match mannnnn. I just hope this time our very own Chong Wei won't be beaten flat again by Lin Dan, like what happened in Beijing Olympics 2008. Jia you, Chong Wei! As for mens doubles, I'm not sure if Koo Kien Keat/ Tan Boon Heong could lift up the expectation being seeded no. 1 as I foresee it's gonna be close battles among them, South Koreans Lee Yong-dae-Jung Jae-sung, Indonesians Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan, China's Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng and Denmark's Lars Paaske-Jonas Rasmussen. AirAsia website upgrade - service unavailability

AirAsia upgraded their systems between June and July and the outcome is worst than before. 1 ) I believe the eVoucher redemption is still screw up especially for Citibank AirAsia credit card customers. 2) The section to book tickets failed to load. Tested with both Firefox and Internet Explorer. 3) Failed to retrieve my bookings As I pointed out earlier , AirAsia should look seriously into their IT infrastructure. The COO/CIO should take responsibility for the failures above. But I wonder if Tony Fernandes does ever care! From a brand I used to be proud of, now AirAsia has become the top worst brand in my list.

Dell paying civil charges for financial fraud

WASHINGTON : Computer maker Dell Inc is paying US$100mil (RM320mil) to settle civil charges that it used fraudulent accounting to meet Wall Street earnings targets, the government announced. Under the settlement with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), company chairman and CEO Michael Dell also agreed to pay a separate US$4mil (RM12.8mil) civil penalty. While the fine was far from the largest penalty levied by the SEC, the decision to charge a sitting chief executive of a major company and reach a seven-figure settlement with him is rare. Michael Dell is one of the most prominent figures in the technology industry, credited for revolutionising the PC market by making the computers cheap and accessible. The SEC said the company also failed to disclose to investors large payments it received from Intel Corp in exchange for not using equipment made by Intel's main rival, AMD Inc. Those payments enabled Dell to meet its quarterly earnings targets. After Intel stopped th

Apple admits iPhone 4 reception issue, gives free case

CUPERTINO, Calif. (Dow Jones)--Apple Inc. (AAPL), answering mounting criticism over the reception issue and antenna design of its recently launched iPhone 4, admitted the phone drops more calls than the previous version and said it would give away cases as a remedy. Apple "screwed up" with the signal algorithm of the phone, Chief Executive Steve Jobs said during a press conference on Friday. But he denied that there was a design problem with the antenna, sticking to the company line that the problem is common with all smartphones. He added the issue was blown out of proportion, and that there was no "Antennagate." "Haven't we earned credibility for the press to give us the benefit of the doubt?" he asked. Apple has sold 3 million iPhone 4s since they were available on June 24, and the device quickly became the company's fastest selling product ever. But the phone, which has an unusual antenna design, was immediately dogged by complaints about it

BAM wasting taxpayers money on overseas training

Though I'm a great badminton fan and hope Malaysia will win the World Championship, I don't concur the same thought. The taxpayers' money should be better spent elsewhere, even if the team wins. The current action by BAM seems prompting they are willing to spend extra in order to win. To make the situation worst, BAM is sending 30 over members there! I don't see the this overseas training guarantee for winning the championship. Wondering how BAM does the math? BAM believe 'isolation preparation' can reap success in world meet By RAJES PAUL KUALA LUMPUR: The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) will be sending a 30-member team to Bath University in England from Aug 10-Aug 20 as part of their early preparation for the World Championships, which will be held in Paris from Aug 23-29. But whether it will be a waste of taxpayers' money – amounting to thousands of ringgit – or not remains to be seen. The team include the eight World Championships

Petrol, diesel, gas, sugar and cooking gas price hike

Ohhhhh noooooooo! Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's administration has taken a politically risky manoeuvre by raising prices of three types of fossil fuels, sugar and cooking gas. Both RON95 and RON97 grade petrol and diesel prices will be raised by RM0.05 per litre, while liquified petroluem gas (LPG) will be raised by RM0.10 per kilogramme. Sugar prices will be raised by RM0.25 per kg. All price increases will take effect from midnight tonight. The breakdown of the new prices are: RON 95 grade petrol – RM1.85 per litre RON 97 grade petrol – RM2.10 per litre Diesel – RM1.75 per litre White refined coarse granulated sugar – RM1.90 per kg Liquified petroluem gas – RM1.85 per kg For cooking gas: (each cylinder) 10kg – from RM17.50 to RM18.50, RM1.00 hike 12kg – from RM21.00 to RM22.20, RM1.20 hike 14kg – from RM24.50 to RM25.90, RM1.40 hike It is learned that the Prime Minister's Department intends to regulate the prices of RON 97 through a managed float mechani

World Cup 2010 Final: Spain beats Netherlands 1-0

I would say this was a  great final match between Spain and Netherlands with the score 1-0 only after an extra time. Andres Iniesta scored the golden goal at the 116th minute and was crowned as the Man of the Match. Coach Vicente del Bosque did it right by substituting Pedro Rodriguez and Xabi Alonso with Jesus Navas and Cesc Fabregas respectively. Netherlands, on the other hand had missed the best chance where Arjen Robben was at 1 to 1 with Iker Casillas but the ball saved by the Spain's goalkeeper. The match is not without flare. Referee Howard Webb shown a total of 14 yellow cards - 9 to Netherlands and 5 to Spain with Netherlands's John Heitinga booked the second yellow leading to a red card. Lineups: Netherlands: Maarten Stekelenburg, Gregory van der Wiel, John Heitinga, Joris Mathijsen, Giovanni van Bronckhorst (Edson Braafheid, 105), Mark van Bommel, Nigel de Jong (Rafael van der Vaart, 99), Dirk Kuyt (Eljero Elia, 71), Wesley Sneijder, Arjen Robben, Robin van

World Cup 2010: Last 16: Germany 4 - England 1

I'm glad I watched this superb match. So many good shots. Germany has solid team work, foot skills and speed while England's defense shows considerable weakness in it. With this win, Germany is going to meet Argentina in the quarter-finals on 3rd July at 10 pm. Nightmare for England BLOEMFONTEIN: Germany inflicted England's record World Cup Finals defeat yesterday after a 4-1 victory in their last 16 match that was overshadowed by one of the worst refereeing mistakes in the tournament's history. Germany's superior movement and ruthless finishing made them worthy winners on an afternoon when England's defending was shockingly sub-standard and their talisman, Wayne Rooney, once again failed to deliver on the game's biggest stage. But there is no saying what would have happened if England had not been denied a goal that would have levelled the match at 2-2 just before half-time, when a Frank Lampard shot bounced off the underside of the bar and landed a yard

World Cup 2010: Referees' errors for England's denied goal

FIFA stays silent on World Cup referees' errors JOHANNESBURG (AP) - FIFA refused to comment Monday on mistakes made by World Cup match officials that contributed to the elimination of England and Mexico. The governing body of world football did not send any officials with responsibility for referees to its daily briefing despite widespread furor over Sunday's errors. FIFA spokesman Nicolas Maingot faced hostile questioning but said he was not competent to discuss decisions by referees or football's rules-making panel, which has rejected introducing video technology that would help match officials. "We obviously will not open any debate," Maingot said. "This is obviously not the place for this." Television replays quickly showed Sunday that England was denied a goal against Germany when Frank Lampard's shot bounced down from the crossbar and over the goal line. Uruguayan referee Jorge Larrionda waved away the 38th-minute non-goal, which would hav

Saving unwanted babies

Noble effort, I would say! Keep it up though at the same time, I don't wish to see more abandon babies. The couple or mother need to be more responsible with their acts. PETALING JAYA: A non-profit organisation has set up the country's first baby hatch for mothers to anonymously leave their unwanted newborns to be put up for adoption. The hatch has a small door which opens to an incubator bed. Once a baby is placed inside it and the door is closed, an alarm bell will alert the staff. Risnawati Yassin, 35, who had no children after being married for five years, getting her two-month-old adopted child Mohd Farid Fatah Abdullah snuggled up inside a baby hatch that was launched yesterday. Thomas Cup 2010: China beats Malaysia 3-0

A repeat of Olympics 2008. Lee Chong Wei is beaten flat by Lin Dan 21-17 21-8. Fit, sharp and fast, that is all I could describe Lin Dan. Cai Yun / Fu Haifeng is too formidable, beating Koo Kean Keat/ Tan Boon Heong 21-15 21-10. Wong Choong Hann try his best however still faltered to the young Chen Jin 21-16 21-7. There we go. Game over for Malaysia. Pretty disappointed with the result. Malaysia should not have lost to Japan in the first place!

Work to ease congestion in Puchong expected to end late next year THE first phase of the upgrading works on the Puchong stretch of the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) is on schedule and is expected to be completed by the end of 2011. It is part of the RM300mil upgrade plan by highway concessionaire Litrak to mitigate the congestion at critical points caused by rapid development. In Puchong, the non-toll traffic on the LDP has increased by ten-fold, from about 40,000 in 1999 to 400,000 in 2010. "Since 1999, there have been 20 major developments (spanning over 40.5ha or comprising more than 500 units) and 15 medium developments (less than 40.5ha or fewer than 500 units) in Puchong. T. Ananda Krishnan, a low profile Malaysian tycoon

It is almost universal among Malaysian Indians that the image of one of the nation's pride- The Petronas Twin Towers, is immediately associated with the image of a certain man named Anandha Krishnan, or to be more precise- Tan Sri Tatparanandam Anandha Krishnan, known famously with the abbreviation of TAK.   Well, those are not the only prominent products in this country that are associated with this man- the name Anandha Krishnan does ring a bell when you mention the Maxis Telecommunication Services- the largest telecommunication service provider in whole of Malaysia as well as the country's most prominent and only satellite television provider- Astro.   Not to forget the man is also the man responsible behind the Malaysian satellite MEASAT, and also the chain of multiplex theaters known by the name of Tanjong Golden Village (TGV) across Malaysia.   And when we were storming through our options to profile a prolific figure for our first profiling in this site, we felt that it

Area congestion pricing (ACP) for Kuala Lumpur

It's important to improve public transport then before even considering ACP. Bumpy road before a smooth drive A recently-tabled bill makes it possible for a congestion charge to be implemented for cars entering Kuala Lumpur's city centre. But critics say a reliable and efficient public transport system needs to be in place first. WITH the tabling of the Land Public Transport (LPT) Bill in Parliament recently, Malaysia has taken the first step towards the introduction of an area congestion pricing (ACP) scheme in traffic-snarled cities around the country. This congestion toll system, similar to the Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) in Singapore, and the Congestion Charge (CC) in London, England, makes users pay to use roads in the city centre to reduce traffic jams and to promote more efficient use of roads. This Bill goes hand in hand with another, the Suruhanjaya Pengangkutan Awam Darat Bill (Land Public Transport Commission, SPAD) which empowers the formation of an authority in
