Can the Malaysia government publish the justification for this increase? The increased amount and percentage are huge. And no public consultation? KLIA2 targeted for opening on 2 May 2014

I hope so. This KLIA2 project has been poorly managed - delayed completion (was slated to open on 28 June 2013) and inflated cost (from RM 1.9 billion to RM 4 billion)! MAHB targets to open KLIA2 for operations on May 2, 2014, following the missed completion date of April 30, 2013. The joint venture (JV) between UEM Construction Sdn Bhd and Bina Puri Sdn Bhd said it would complete the work package for the low-cost terminal, KLIA2, by the stipulated deadline on Jan 31, 2014. Pulau Sipadan and vicinity - safe for visit?

Glad to hear the Taiwanese tourist has been released after more than a month (see the Pom Pom Kidnapping Timeline for the chronology of events). Frankly speaking, those few kidnapping incidents at Sabah eastern coastal area for the past years have made me to think twice if I want to return to Semporna / Pulau Mabul / Pulau Sipadan vicinity for visits and water activities.

Cost of hiring Indonesian maid likely to increase

Looks like the cost to hire Indonesian maid will increase. Refer to the info graphics for the cost in the past. Recruitment agencies say the stalemate in the supply of Indonesian maids to Malaysia will end now that they are empowered to determine the cost of hiring these domestic workers. However, the Malaysian Asso­ciation of Foreign Maid Agencies (Papa) concedes that the cost of employing them "will likely go up". Papa president Jeffrey Foo said: "Issues with pricing have always been the main hindrance in bringing in maids. The Government tried to control the pricing but the Indonesian agencies are still reluctant to supply the maids to us because they felt it was not worth it as they thought the price was too low. Get your act right, BAM I HAVE to admit that I have a soft spot for men's doubles shuttler Koo Kien Keat. I vividly remember his superb display of talent, style and aggression when he made his debut at the 2004 Thomas Cup Finals in Jakarta as a 19-year-old teenager. He was so full of fire back then. Together with Chew Choon Eng, they nearly pulled off an upset over Indonesia's Eng Hian-Flandi Limpele. Malaysia lost 3-1 in the quarter-finals – and it was Kien Keat's baptism of fire. I have always found him to be a charming and respectful person, one who had good communication skills too. He achieved great success with Chan Chong Ming for two years and soared to even greater heights with Tan Boon Heong. Tan Aik Mong quits as BAM TMG director

KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Aik Mong has quit as the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) Talent Management Group (TMG) director after just 18 days in the job. The former international said on Tuesday that the job, which he had carried out voluntarily, had become untenable following the BAM's decision to revert all his changes to their original structure. "I was called by BAM president Tengku Tan Sri Mahaleel Tengku Ariff to assist him in implementing changes and plans to revive Malaysia's badminton. As all these changes and plans have now been reverted to the original structure, my involvement is no longer necessary," said Aik Mong on Tuesday. The 63-year-old started his job earnestly on Sept 7. Gadang to develop PR1MA houses at Cyberjaya

GADANG Holdings Bhd, has won its maiden affordable housing development under the 1Malaysia Housing Programme (PR1MA), a government initiative designed to help middle-income earners own properties. Gadang did not disclose the value of the contract. In a statement to Bursa Malaysia, Gadang said further details will be released upon the company signing the agreement with Cyberview Sdn Bhd. Business Times understands that the contract is valued just above RM1 billion, and that it has the potential to generate some RM100 million in revenue annually for a period up to nine years for the public-listed company. Gadang, however, did say that it has accepted the letter of acceptance from Cyberview to jointly develop the latter's K-Workers Housing Project in Cyberjaya. Property development near LRT extension site

KUALA LUMPUR: Syarikat Prasarana Negara Bhd , the state-owned public transport owner and operator, will announce two more mixed property development deals estimated to be worth RM1.1bil located along its light rail transit (LRT) extension project in Awan Besar and Puchong by the middle of this year. Besides these two locations, there are 11 more parcels of land earmarked for property development along its future and existing LRT stations, envisaged to boost its non-fare segment revenue. The 11 locations are in Jelatek, Kelana Jaya, Putra Heights, Pandan Jaya, Pandan Indah, Cempaka, Titiwangsa, Glenmarie, Kinrara, Bandar Puteri and Sentul. According to group managing director Datuk Shahril Mokhtar , the mixed property development in Awan Besar and Puchong have indicative gross development values (GDVs) of RM600mil and RM500mil, respectively. Puchong flash flood - what is the cause and action?

The flash flood happened on the 18th of Feb 2013. So have we confirmed the cause? And what would be the next action by the authorities? Have we learn our lessons? I guess not. And oh yeah, as far as I recalled, this was not first time. I still remember IOI opened air car park and the McD in IOI were badly flooded few years ago. KUALA LUMPUR: Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB), has announced a 6.50 sen dividend per unit for Amanah Saham Malaysia (ASM) for the financial year ending March 31. ASNB has also announced a special income distribution of 0.30 sen per unit as a token of appreciation to ASM investors for their support.
