Zidane steps down as Real Madrid head coach in shock announcement

OMG! He does this at the height of his coaching career. Salute! The Frenchman, formerly coach of Real Madrid Castilla, was appointed as head coach of Real's first team in January 2016 after the dismissal of Rafa Benítez, and guided the club to the Champions League title by beating Atlético Madrid on penalties in the final. He won the Spanish league title in his second season, then became the first manager to win the Champions League in his first three seasons when Real defeated Juventus in the 2017 final, and Liverpool this month. "A change is needed. I'm not going to get involved in these things," he said when asked about a possible successor. "I'm not here to talk about the future of this team." https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/may/31/zinedine-zidane-real-madrid-manager-steps-down

Good adventures and laughs

Hahaha. I had so much fun watching Le En's swearing !!! Good adventures there!

Badminton All England 2013 Final: Chong Wei lost to Chen Long

I watched this game. Not sure why Chong Wei's movement was slow while Chen Long was turbo charged and responding to Chong Wei's shots so well. Is the age is catching up for Chong Wei or Chen Long has improved so much? I think it is both. At the same time, I really miss to see the flamboyant Lin Dan. Where has he gone hiding? WORLD No. 1 Lee Chong Wei was angry with himself yesterday after losing an opportunity to win the All-England for the third time at the National Indoor Arena. The 30-year-old Chong Wei lost his spark, losing 21-17, 21-18 to Chen Long of China in a highly-charged men's singles final. It was the 24-year-old Chen Long's sixth win in 13 meetings over the Malaysian. "I made too many mistakes today, especially in the early part of the game. I am angry with myself right now," said a disappointed Chong Wei, who also lost last year's final against Lin Dan after withdrawing with a shoulder injury. "But this is not the end. I am g...

Badminton All England 2012 - Early round defeats

Peter Gade [4] crashed out in his last All England tournament after the match with England's Rajiv Ouseph that lasted until 2 am. The unseeded Taufik Hidayat defeated Chen Jin [4]. This is rather a surprise to me. Looks like it's either Chen Jin isn't performing so well or Taufil is getting steadier lately. Good news for other countries. Koo Kien Keat/ Tan Boon Heong [6] lost to dunno who from China. Really unacceptable to me. Korea's 2nd rank pair of Ko Sung Hyun / Yoo Yeon Seong [4] lost to the unseeded and uprising Taiwanese pair, Fang Chieh Min / Lee Sheng Mu.

Tony Fernandes acquires 66% stake in QPR

My idol did it yet again! Salute! Tony Fernandes acquires 66% stake in QPR LONDON: Queens Park Rangers (QPR) says Tan Sri Tony Fernandes has completed his takeover of the English Premier League club. Fernandes gained a 66% stake in the London club Thursday by buying out F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone and former Renault F1 team principal Flavio Briatore. Steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, the wealthiest person in Britain, retains his 33% stake in QPR, which has just returned to England's top flight after a 15-year absence. Ecclestone is relinquishing control of QPR after five years as the majority owner. Fernandes, 47, who combines his job as chief executive of AirAsia with being an F1 team principal, had previously tried to buy West Ham, the London club he supports. "Everyone knows I've followed West Ham all my life, but I've always had a soft spot for QPR," Fernandes said. "Rangers were one of the first teams I watched as a child at Loftus Road ... QPR...

Badminton World Championship 2011 - Final Result

Final Result Lin Dan vs Lee Chong Wei 20-22, 21-14, 23-21 What an exciting match. Lee Chong Wei has come close to beat Lin Dan but missed the 2 crucial match points. I see Lee Chong Wei has improved a lot especially with his cross court smash from the right side of the court. On the other hand, Lin Dan's tactical and net play are far more superior. To me, winning is not everything. So I hope Lee Chong Wei will take the defeat as opportunity to grow stronger for the Olympics 2012.

Badminton World Championship 2011 Final

I will be at Wembley Arena in 30 mins time to watch my countrymen, Lee Chong Wei playing my idol, Lin Dan from China for the Badminton World Championship 2011 final. This is the same venue for next year's Olympics. Malaysia is hoping for LCW to break the record by winning the 1st gold medal ever. Hope to catch some excellent displays by the duo. The best shall win.

Chong Wei beaten again but narrowing the gap

At least he didn't lose flat like during Olympics - something to cheer on. Jia You, Chong Wei! KUALA LUMPUR: A resilient world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei collapsed at the crucial stage to allow archrival Lin Dan of China to take the honour as the first champion of the richest tournament in badminton history. In the US$1.2mil South Korea Open in Seoul yesterday, the three-time champion displayed a late burst of power in the rubber game to win the last six points consecutively for a 21-19, 14-21, 21-16 victory to dethrone Chong Wei as the champion. The hard work and solid netplay over one hour and 15 minutes earned Lin Dan a jackpot purse of US$90,000 (RM275,000). It was Lin Dan's first title since withdrawing from three Open tournaments over the last two months – in China, Hong Kong and Malaysia. He had cited a back injury to conceded walkovers to his opponents in the quarter-finals. There was sheer frustration for Chong Wei after coming so close to becoming the first Malaysi...

Worth to subscribe to Astro for their Sports channels?

To me, it's not too comfy to watch Astro at the public area especially with the "smokes" around. So here comes my thought of subscribing to Astro, primarily for their Sports channels. Hmmmm ... for the love of sports, should I or should I not? Activation: RM 200 Monthly subscription: Basic package + 1 Mini Package (Learning) + Sports = RM 66.95 12 months contract at minimum

Japan Super Series 2010 Final result

Watched it live via Astro at Puteri Mart food court at Bandar Puteri, Puchong, next to the Michael's Badminton Academy. A big muakssss to Lee Chong Wei for finally beaten Lin Dan 22-20 16-21 21-17 after some time. But nevertheless Lin Dan is still my idol. And he looks lengchai today despite losing hahaha. It would be double joy if Koo Kien Keat / Tan Boon Heong won over Cai Yun / Fu Hai Feng too. After winning the 1st game, judging from their performance, I looked forward to another excellent display in the 2nd game but alas dunno why they were beaten in the 2nd and 3rd game. Didn't manage to catch that 'cause raining and thus Astro was out of service! Then checked at TournamentSoftware , the result was 21-18 14-21 12-21. What a pity.

Japan Super Series 2010 Final

Yeah! These players are going to meet their nemesis in the final starting at 12 pm tomorrow. Lee Chong Wei vs Lin Dan - I don't hope to watch a repeat of Olympics 2008. Hope my countryman will win over my idol this time. Koo Kien Keat / Tan Boon Heong  vs Cai Yun / Fu Hai Feng - I would say both have equal chances

Badminton World Championship 2010

Lee Chong Wei (1st seed) is expected to meet my idol, Lin Dan (3rd seed) in the semi finals on this Sat. A must watch match mannnnn. I just hope this time our very own Chong Wei won't be beaten flat again by Lin Dan, like what happened in Beijing Olympics 2008. Jia you, Chong Wei! As for mens doubles, I'm not sure if Koo Kien Keat/ Tan Boon Heong could lift up the expectation being seeded no. 1 as I foresee it's gonna be close battles among them, South Koreans Lee Yong-dae-Jung Jae-sung, Indonesians Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan, China's Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng and Denmark's Lars Paaske-Jonas Rasmussen. BAM wasting taxpayers money on overseas training

Though I'm a great badminton fan and hope Malaysia will win the World Championship, I don't concur the same thought. The taxpayers' money should be better spent elsewhere, even if the team wins. The current action by BAM seems prompting they are willing to spend extra in order to win. To make the situation worst, BAM is sending 30 over members there! I don't see the this overseas training guarantee for winning the championship. Wondering how BAM does the math? BAM believe 'isolation preparation' can reap success in world meet By RAJES PAUL KUALA LUMPUR: The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) will be sending a 30-member team to Bath University in England from Aug 10-Aug 20 as part of their early preparation for the World Championships, which will be held in Paris from Aug 23-29. But whether it will be a waste of taxpayers' money – amounting to thousands of ringgit – or not remains to be seen. The team include the eight World Championships ...

World Cup 2010 Final: Spain beats Netherlands 1-0

I would say this was a  great final match between Spain and Netherlands with the score 1-0 only after an extra time. Andres Iniesta scored the golden goal at the 116th minute and was crowned as the Man of the Match. Coach Vicente del Bosque did it right by substituting Pedro Rodriguez and Xabi Alonso with Jesus Navas and Cesc Fabregas respectively. Netherlands, on the other hand had missed the best chance where Arjen Robben was at 1 to 1 with Iker Casillas but the ball saved by the Spain's goalkeeper. The match is not without flare. Referee Howard Webb shown a total of 14 yellow cards - 9 to Netherlands and 5 to Spain with Netherlands's John Heitinga booked the second yellow leading to a red card. Lineups: Netherlands: Maarten Stekelenburg, Gregory van der Wiel, John Heitinga, Joris Mathijsen, Giovanni van Bronckhorst (Edson Braafheid, 105), Mark van Bommel, Nigel de Jong (Rafael van der Vaart, 99), Dirk Kuyt (Eljero Elia, 71), Wesley Sneijder, Arjen Robben, Robin van ...

World Cup 2010: Awards

As expected. A big congrats to the winners especially Thomas Mueller! Golden Ball (Best Player) 1. Diego Forlan (Uruguay) 23.4% 2. Wesley Sneijder (Netherlands) 21.8% 3. David Villa (Spain) 16.9% Top Scorer Golden Boot - Thomas Mueller (Germany) - 5 goals Silver Boot - David Villa (Spain) - 5 goals Bronze Boot - Wesley Sneijder (Netherlands) - 5 goals Best Young Player - Thomas Mueller (Germany) Golden Glove - Iker Casillas (Spain)

World Cup 2010: Last 16: Germany 4 - England 1

I'm glad I watched this superb match. So many good shots. Germany has solid team work, foot skills and speed while England's defense shows considerable weakness in it. With this win, Germany is going to meet Argentina in the quarter-finals on 3rd July at 10 pm. Nightmare for England BLOEMFONTEIN: Germany inflicted England's record World Cup Finals defeat yesterday after a 4-1 victory in their last 16 match that was overshadowed by one of the worst refereeing mistakes in the tournament's history. Germany's superior movement and ruthless finishing made them worthy winners on an afternoon when England's defending was shockingly sub-standard and their talisman, Wayne Rooney, once again failed to deliver on the game's biggest stage. But there is no saying what would have happened if England had not been denied a goal that would have levelled the match at 2-2 just before half-time, when a Frank Lampard shot bounced off the underside of the bar and landed a yard ...

World Cup 2010: Referees' errors for England's denied goal

FIFA stays silent on World Cup referees' errors JOHANNESBURG (AP) - FIFA refused to comment Monday on mistakes made by World Cup match officials that contributed to the elimination of England and Mexico. The governing body of world football did not send any officials with responsibility for referees to its daily briefing despite widespread furor over Sunday's errors. FIFA spokesman Nicolas Maingot faced hostile questioning but said he was not competent to discuss decisions by referees or football's rules-making panel, which has rejected introducing video technology that would help match officials. "We obviously will not open any debate," Maingot said. "This is obviously not the place for this." Television replays quickly showed Sunday that England was denied a goal against Germany when Frank Lampard's shot bounced down from the crossbar and over the goal line. Uruguayan referee Jorge Larrionda waved away the 38th-minute non-goal, which would hav...
