The government has engaged Cambridge English Language Assessment to evaluate the teaching and learning of English as some people have complained that proficiency in the language is not as good as before. Do we need another study? And how much will it cost? I thought the government was short of money. If the government does not believe that the standard of English has dropped, why doesn't it just ask the Malaysian Employers Federation and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers? They can tell you how the situation has deteriorated over the years and how investments and job creation will slow considerably if more and more of our labour force are unable to read and write English competently.
