Chong Wei beaten again but narrowing the gap

At least he didn't lose flat like during Olympics - something to cheer on. Jia You, Chong Wei! KUALA LUMPUR: A resilient world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei collapsed at the crucial stage to allow archrival Lin Dan of China to take the honour as the first champion of the richest tournament in badminton history. In the US$1.2mil South Korea Open in Seoul yesterday, the three-time champion displayed a late burst of power in the rubber game to win the last six points consecutively for a 21-19, 14-21, 21-16 victory to dethrone Chong Wei as the champion. The hard work and solid netplay over one hour and 15 minutes earned Lin Dan a jackpot purse of US$90,000 (RM275,000). It was Lin Dan's first title since withdrawing from three Open tournaments over the last two months – in China, Hong Kong and Malaysia. He had cited a back injury to conceded walkovers to his opponents in the quarter-finals. There was sheer frustration for Chong Wei after coming so close to becoming the first Malaysi...

A woman with a mission

I feel so touch by her undying spirit. She has been labelled the Terminator by human traffickers. For her untiring efforts in fighting sex slavery and exploitation of women and children, Anuradha Koirala was chosen CNN Hero 2010. Sunday Star catches up with this feisty woman. WITH a twinkle in her eyes and her hands clasped, Anuradha Koirala greets everybody she meets with the customary Namaste greeting. "Call me Dijuu (elder sister in Nepalese)," says the motherly figure with a warm smile that instantly draws you to her. But if you're a human trafficker, you had better watch out because Koirala is out to get you! The founder and executive director of Maiti (Mother's Home) Nepal personally raids brothels in India to rescue trafficked Nepalese girls and brings them back home. And she even patrols the India-Nepali border to keep a lookout for vans and buses crossing the border that may be used to traffick women and children. Maiti has saved more than 12,000 girls f...

Highway from Puchong to NKVE

New highway links Puchong to Tropicana A new proposed highway linking Kinrara in Puchong to the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) will be cutting across Petaling Jaya near Tropicana. The new link, which is off the Kesas Highway cuts through Section 4, Section 8, Jalan Timur, Jalan Semangat, Rothmans roundabout, Damansara Intan and Damansara Kim. The toll highway, expected to start construction soon, also goes along the Sprint Highway all the way to the NKVE near Tropicana area. Traffic planning consultant Goh Bok Yen said the new link would help alleviate the traffic problems in Petaling Jaya. "Petaling Jaya badly needs roads that provide good access. It basically requires dispersal link to access the highways for ingress and digress," he said. Goh cited as an example the NKVE which, he said, cut on the west side to Kota Damansara, Ara Damansara and Tropicana. A few links that are mainly used are Persiaran Surian, the FAS tunnel and Tropicana. For the entire ...

Phil Collins - Separate Lives

This song caught me on the spot while I was driving home alone few days ago on a late and quiet night. You called me from the room in your hotel All full of romance for someone that you met And telling me how sorry you were, leaving so soon And that you miss me sometimes when you’re alone in your room Do I feel lonely too? You have no right to ask me how I feel You have no right to speak to me so kind We can’t go on just holding on to time Now that we’re living separate lives Well I held on to let you go And if you lost your love for me, well you never let it show There was no way to compromise So now we’re living (living) Separate lives Ooh, it’s so typical, love leads to isolation So you build that wall (build that wall) Yes, you build that wall (build that wall) And you make it stronger Well you have no right to ask me how I feel You have no right to speak to me so kind Some day I might (I might) find myself looking in your eyes But for now, we’ll go on li...
