Japan to issue multiple entry visas from Saturday
PETALING JAYA: Malaysians wanting to visit Japan on a tour can apply for a multiple entry visa from tomorrow.
The visa would be valid for a maximum of three years and the length of each entry would be limited to 15 days in prin- ciple, according to a press release by the Japanese Embassy.
It said the length of each stay could be extended to 30 or 90 days subject to the approval of the Japan embassy, con- sulate-general or consular office.
Applicants for the visa had to fulfil one of three criteria.
Under the first, an applicant must have travelled to Japan as a temporary visitor in the past three years and also be able to pay for his or her expenses in Japan.
Under the second criteria, an applicant must be employed and have a good financial status, while the third criteria is for him or her to be the spouse or child of such a person.
It takes three days to process the visa, which is issued free.
Application forms can be obtained at the embassy in Kuala Lumpur, the consulate-general in Penang, or consular offices in Johor Baru or Kota Kinabalu.
Alternatively, forms can be downloaded from the embassy website.
